The Arizona Coyotes and Tucson Roadrunners have confirmed that they will continue to use Firstbeat Sports’ athlete monitoring solution for the next three years.
The Arizona Coyotes have been a Firstbeat client for the past eight years, with Firstbeat’s solution proving to be an important tool when it comes to the team’s training program, rehabilitation, and return to play protocols. On the partnership, Devan McConnell, High Performance Director at the Arizona Coyotes says:
“Firstbeat’s player monitoring system has been extremely important in both establishing the winning culture we want to become a part of here in Arizona, as well as elevating the standard of training we can provide our athletes.
The internal measurements TRIMP and TRIMP/min are metrics that we use daily to help steer the direction of training and adjust for on-ice load accumulation during the NHL season.
Perhaps the most important use for Firstbeat is for close periodization of our rehabilitation and return to play protocols, aiming to objectively and systematically improve anaerobic and aerobic capacities before joining team practices and games.”
Firstbeat Sports data has been used in ice hockey for over a decade, with over half of NHL franchises and several national federations utilizing the technology as part of their training and recovery guidance.
Firstbeat’s John Lally said the following regarding the Coyote’s continuation:
“I’ve worked with the Arizona Coyotes for almost 10 years, with a staff who are long familiar with Firstbeat. It’s good to know that our teams and coaches continue to rely on Firstbeat to track and understand their athletes’ performance and readiness.
The Performance Staff at Arizona Coyotes are totally fluent with Firstbeat and the data we provide – this is really exciting to me, when a team is implementing Firstbeat data in a way that truly matters!
To improve performance, to understand player readiness, to elevate the mindset of their athletes. That’s when I become confident that we can make a difference and help teams to improve and ultimately win.”
The announcement between Firstbeat and the Arizona Coyotes comes ahead of the start of the NHL season – scheduled to begin on October 7, 2022.
