Firstbeat Sports and the Swedish Football Association have agreed a partnership that will see the Sweden Men’s Senior team use Firstbeat Sports’ advanced performance analytics.
The Swedish national team, managed by Janne Andersson and ranked 20th in the world at the time of writing, will utilize Firstbeat Sports’ comprehensive physiological analytics to support training and recovery through 2021. This includes their preparation and participation in a Nations League group alongside France, Croatia, and Portugal, as well as the rescheduled Euro 2020 competition.
The Blågult (Blue and Yellow) will be using Firstbeat Sports’ Premium solution, including the Firstbeat Sports app and Sensor, to optimize performance and reduce injury risk.
Paul D. Balsom, Swedish FA Performance Manager, commented on the partnership with Firstbeat Sports:
“It has taken a considerable amount of time and effort to find a solution to both accurately measure and comprehensively analyze the heart rate responses of our players. Now that we have taken onboard Firstbeat, I have been particularly impressed by the support I have received and how they continue to develop their solution to even better meet our needs.
“As well as monitoring individuals during our own training sessions, the ability to provide clubs with detailed training and recovery information whilst players are with us through individual reports will be useful in particular.”
Firstbeat Sports Manager in Europe Christoph Rottensteiner was also extremely pleased to be working with the Swedish national team:
“We’re excited to be working with the Sweden Men’s Senior team as they embark on a crucial period of fixtures. The experience and direct feedback from Paul will enable us to help with additional insights and highlight unique challenges that an association faces – e.g. players not available daily as with their club, high fluctuation in the respective national team, and reporting data to the clubs.
“Firstbeat Sports provides an accurate and instant picture of a player’s physiological responses using heartrate variability-based metrics and data. We pride ourselves on giving coaches – and athletes themselves – the information needed to individualize and modify training and recovery in real time and during post-session analysis. Hopefully, we can play a small part in helping Janne Andersson and his squad secures some good results moving forward.”
